On Online Check-in
1. This document is applicable to passengers who hold Air China’s e-tickets. Currently, online check-in is available for Air China’s flights departing from selected domestic and international cities. But in special situations where, for example, a flight is delayed, Air China has the right to close its online check-in service.
2. Online check-in is not available if you purchased a concessional ticket for disabled service personnel or police officers. Please allow enough time for check-in at the airport: you will need to present a valid identification document and your disabled service personnel or police officer certificate (the names on documents must match those on the booking). Air China has the right to refuse boarding if passengers cannot present a matching identification document.
3. On Air China’s international flights, each First Class/Business Class passenger can carry two pieces of hand baggage, each of which shall weigh no more than 8kg, and each Economy Class passenger can carry one piece of hand baggage which shall weigh no more than 5kg. On Air China’s domestic flights, each First Class/Business Class passenger can carry two pieces of hand baggage, each of which shall weigh no more than 5kg, and each Economy Class passenger can carry one piece of hand baggage which shall weigh no more than 5kg. The length, width and height of each piece of hand baggage shall not exceed over 55cm, 40cm, and 20cm respectively, and can fit under the seat of the passenger in front or into the closed overhead baggage bin. Online check-in is not applicable to checked baggage. If you have baggage to check, please be at the designated check-in counters for help at least 120 minutes before flight departure.
4. For the safety of other passengers, items like knives, sharp tools and alcoholic drinks are prohibited as or in hand baggage but must be carried as or in checked baggage. For each passenger, no more than two bottles of alcoholic drinks which weigh no more than 1 kilo are allowed on each flight. Items prohibited from carriage as or in baggage include firearms, ammunition, ordnances, controlled knives, flammable and explosive substances, and poisonous, corrosive and radioactive substances; goods which are harmful to flight safety and prohibited from carriage by law, rules or government regulations; live animals; perishable fresh goods; goods whose packaging, shape, weight, volume or nature is not suitable for carriage. The items which are not allowed for carriage as or in checked baggage include cash, negotiable papers, jewelry, precious metals, precious metal products, curios, paintings and calligraphic works, personal electronic devices, samples, lithium batteries, important documents and materials, travel identification documents and prescribed medicines to be taken regularly.
5. Lithium batteries with the power capacity ranging from 100Wh to 160Wh or electronic devices outfitted with lithium batteries which meet such requirements can be carried in hand baggage or checked baggage. However, backup lithium batteries which meet such requirements are not allowed for carriage in checked baggage but can be carried only in hand baggage, and each passenger can carry no more than 2 backup batteries. Backup batteries must be packaged separately to avoid short circuit.
6. Passengers must comply with the rules set by governmental authorities regarding the valid documents required for civil flights and ensure that their documents are legally-recognised and remain valid. The passenger shall be responsible for the consequences if the name on ticket and document do not match, or if the document has expired. Please check that the document types and validity period comply with the requirements for all segments of your journey, including transit countries/regions and your final destination.

Another is PASSBOOK, the electric boarding pass, which will be sent to your mobile phone.
